The Recovery Labs difference: Beyond backups

Our backup service is not just a software programme for making copies of your data; it is a managed backup service that allows companies to focus on their core business and leave the entire process in the hands of the team of professionals at Recovery Labs. Our personnel:

Our operators receive the LOG messages in real time, whether everything is working properly or if there are problems.

Confidentiality

At Recovery Labs we have rigorous protocols in place to ensure the confidentiality of your data at all times. We use a complex encryption system to prevent your data from being accessed by anyone, even Recovery Labs personnel.

Our fully-managed process guarantees the integrity, confidentiality, availability and authenticity of your data.

Encryption. Once the back-up of your computer begins, the information is encrypted which means that your data becomes unreadable. The information remains encrypted while in storage and while being transmitted, which means that Recovery Labs personnel will not have access to it at any time during the process. Only you and anyone you authorize will have access to the decryption algorithm that will make the information intelligible to you, once you enter a private password.

Important information about the Data Protection Act (LOPD)

The Data Protection Act  specifically provides that for the treatment of high level personal data, specific security measures must be taken (Royal Decree 1720/2007 of 21 December, approving the implementing regulations of Organic Law 15/1999 of 13 December on the protection of personal data, Title VIII, Chapter IV).

Backup copies and recovery

Back-up copies and copies of the data recovery procedures must be kept offsite in a place other than where the computer equipment is located using measures to guarantee the integrity of the information and the ability to recover it.

Telecommunications

Encryption or other mechanisms must be used when personal data is transmitted over telecommunication networks to guarantee that the information cannot be read or manipulated by third parties.

How a backup works.

The backup agent takes a “photo” of the files to be copied, compresses it, encrypts it and sends it to a server located in the client’s offices or in the Recovery Labs cloud.

The next day, the agent compares the photo from the day before with that of the current date and sends only those parts of the files that have changed to the server. The process of making the copy is therefore very fast. Also, thanks to this intelligence, different versions of a file can be saved in case it becomes necessary to recover an older version. Recovery Labs saves the last 10 copies.

How the information is recovered

The copy agent includes a simple wizard to guide you during the recovery process. It basically works like a Windows Explorer, all you have to do is choose the recovery date and the file and press a button. The file is recovered without the need for Recovery Labs to intervene.

The installation process

A Recovery Labs technician will contact you to arrange a convenient time to connect to your equipment remotely in order to configure the back-up system.

The procedure is as follows:

For one computer backed up to Recovery Labs’ cloud

  • A Recovery Labs technician installs and configures a back-up agent remotely.
  • A Recovery Labs technician configures the copy of the files selected by the client.
  • The information is copied to a Recovery Labs server daily via the Internet on an unattended basis.
  • The information is encrypted and compressed when it is transmitted so that it cannot be accessed by anyone, not even Recovery Labs!
  • The information from the last 30 days is available.

 

For multiple computers backed up to miniserver at the client’s offices

  • Recovery Labs sends a preconfigured appliance to the client’s offices to copy the Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, PDF and Outlook files from all remote equipment.
  • The client adds a miniserver to its network using just two cables: a power cable and an Ethernet cable.
  • A Recovery Labs technician connects to each one of the client’s computers remotely – up to 20 – to install and configure the agent.
  • A Recovery Labs technician launches the first back-up of each computer to confirm that the back-up is working properly.
  • Recovery Labs receives alerts during the contractual period and notifies the client of any problems that may arise.
  • For computers and servers in one or more locations:
  • Recovery Labs will submit a plan in advance with the requirements, the proposed solution, a schedule and the steps involved in the implementation and start-up.
